Wedding Season Is In Full Swing

In honor of wedding season, here are the top three gift-giving tips. What you need to know before gifting.

  • First, don’t feel restricted to the wedding registry. Lets face it, most couples are living together before their marriage so they more then likely have a lot of the household necessities. It’s the truth. The last thing they need are towels and sheet sets. Not to mention the registries are usually made because most bride and grooms feel like they need one to make it seem like they aren’t just expecting money. Do them a favor and get something meaningful if you must get a physical gift over a monetary one. Thanks to the internet there are hundreds of websites with great personalized gifts that are just for the wedding occasion!
  • You don’t need to try to match the cost of what they paid for your plate. I mean really. They didn’t base their wedding venue off of making the money back. We all know that wouldn’t happen anyway! If you are sticking to cash, here is what is acceptable based on your relationship to the newlyweds. Co-workers, $50-$100. Friend or distant relative, $100-$125. Close friend or close relative, $150-$250.
  • If you’re bringing a date just to bring a date to the wedding please be courteous enough to bring a gift on their behalf. Weddings are expensive, so it is uncommon now that bride and grooms offer an invite to extra guests. So remember, if you’re not a couple or your significant other has yet to meet the bride and groom – bring an extra gift!
